In this procedure,COP-M powder was first immersedin KOH (COP-M/KOH, ¼ weight ratio),ethanol/water (95:5;v/v) and then stirred for 12 h. The resulting mixture was distilled and the brown mixture was dried under vacuum at 80 °C for 6 h. Finally, the KOH/COP-M mixture was taken in alumina crucible and placed inside the quartz tube furnace at aramping temperature of 2 °C min1 and kept for 1 h of between 600–700 °C under ultra pure N2 (99.99%). After carbonization, the black residue was immersed in 2N HCl to remove all salts, excess KOH etc and then thoroughly
washed with copious amount of distilled water, acetone, ethanol, chloroform etc.The carbonized samples are denoted as KCOP-M-x(Yield 58%)(x is the activation temperature).
