In the equation describing the demand for potatoes,
income coefficient was found to be positive and
statistically significant. It was found that as the income of
the consumer increased, potatoes consumption
decreased. Dasgupta et al. (2000) reported that
consumer income had an impact on the decision to
purchase the frozen product (trout steaks). In a previous
study carried out in the USA, it was found that the income
of the consumer was the most important variable
affecting the consumer’s decision to purchase
convenience food (Fanning et al., 2002).
