Malaysia is blessed with a large variety of ethnics groups. There is a religious freedom as enshrined in the constitution. There is respect among each other and no hatred that can spoil the diversity of Malaysia. Malaysians are noted for their friendliness and warm hospitality. We as Malaysians live harmoniously together.
I live at Taman Puspa Kencana. All my neighbours are very kind. We live as one family. We have the qualities that contributes towards living harmoniously. We respect each other without thinking of the races, religions and cultures. We speak politely and act courteously. We never says words that can hurt other people's feelings. When there is a meeting with all the neighbours, we learn to listen to other people's opinion regardless of races, religions as well as cultures.
In my neighbourhood, we always learn to give and take. Sometimes,we need to give ways to other people. We work together towards success without thinking about races, religions and cultures. We form basis for stability in our neighbourhood. I think this attitude of working together should become an example for people in Malaysia. Consequently, Malaysia is free from war and bloodshed.
We always be kind to each other. We help each other in time of need. As the saying goes 'A friend in need is a friend indeed'. It is also common to our neighbourhood to organise 'gotong royong'. Besides helping to create cleaner environment, it also leads to greater relationships among the neighbours. We never felt tired every time we organise 'gotong-royong' because we do all the works together.
The most interesting aspect of our multiracial society is the festivals celebrated by all the races in my neighbourhood throughout the year. Malays celebrate Hari Raya, Chinese celebrate Chinese New Year and Indians welcome Deepavali. For Malays in my neighbourhood,we usually held the open house, the Chinese give ang pows to the children and the Indians will make 'kolam'.
In the neighbourhood, we are working to live together harmoniously. It is our mutual respect and understanding. It also leads to the stability in my beloved country. I hope this country will continue to experience peace and stability in years to come. In a nutshell, I am so proud to be a Malaysian because we live in harmony and prosperity.
