During late gestation and lactation, administration
of Saccharomyces cerevisiae to sows has been shown to
increase gammaglobulin content in milk whereas administration
of yeast mannan oligosaccharides has been shown
to increase IgG concentration in colostrum (Czech et al.,
2010; O’Quinn, 2001; Jurgens et al., 1997). In this study, we
assessed whether administration of 3 various S. cerevisiae
strains could increase IgG and IgA concentrations in both
colostrumandmilk and decrease the incidence of diarrhoea
during lactation.
