for co-extracted impurities, which are no microplastics. DSC is a routine
technique and can virtually be found in every larger university or material-,
chemical- or geosciences research facility. It is particularly suited
as complementary or alternative measurement to time-intensive single-particle
FT-IR-microscopy for the determination of PE and PP in
microplastics with small particle sizes in the lower μm range. The presented
TGA-DSC method directly quantifies PE and PP as total weight
concentration of a sample.
