(Grandfather Grandmother Rock) Rocky Headland.
Separating Lamai Beach and Hua Thanon Beach on the southeast coast of the island is the famous landmark of Hin Ta and Hin Yai. These unusually shaped rock formations sculpted by the natural elements over thousands of years resemble male and female genitalia.
The legend goes that these rocks were created when a couple were travelling by boat with their son to his forthcoming wedding. The unfortunate family were caught in a violent storm of the coast of Samui and their vessel capsized. Unable to swim, they drowned and magically became the rocks as a sign of their good intentions towards his proposed bride and her family.
One of the most visited sites on the island, a number of souvenir shops, small restaurants, bars and car park have grown up around this site.
