Recommended Steps:
Look first to the employees in boxes 7, 8, and 9
on the Performance-Potential Matrix as candidates for succession plans (high potential/high performance, high potential/medium performance, and medium potential/high performance).
Review employees who are high performance/low potential for lateral moves/roles.
As a cross check, once succession plans are developed, review list of employees in boxes 7, 8, and 9 to determine whether they have all been added to succession plans for larger leadership roles. Also consider whether all relevant talent has been considered for expert and/or lateral role moves.
