to separate the phases at the bottom of the column, as shown by
the high solvent content in the raffinate stream (22.56 mass% for
experiment 8 and 13.19 mass% for experiment 9). For the other
experiments, the solvent content in the raffinate stream did not
exceed 11 mass%, which is consistent with equilibrium data that
show that the aqueous ethanol solubility in oil varies from 8 to
11 mass% as the fatty acid content increases from 0 to 10 mass%
