The ten students in this course were given the task of diagnosing and fixing problems in new and highly sophisticated electronic carburetors Working in Pairs, students took turns videotaping each other as they quickly worked through a diagnostic routine, explaining each step. Each student was given fifteen minutes to diagnose the problem-which had been "caused" by the instructor and to make the necessary adjustments. The instructor later viewed the videos and critiqued them by means of a checklist he had developed. He chose two videos for the whole class to view.
