The Social Security Fund now allows freelance workers, who are at least 65 years old, to join the scheme from now until December 8, said Pranin Muttaharat, secretary general of the Office of the Social Security Fund.
They can join the fund by paying Bt100 a month and the government will contribute another Bt100, allowing them to save Bt200 a month as pension fund.
She said the freelance workers can insure themselves under the provision of Article 40 of the Social Security Act.
