The goal of this work is to compare the first generation LA production from sugar beet and the LA
recovery from PLA waste through chemical recycling. All results highlight the environmental
sustainability of chemical recycling. Global Warming Potential is reduced by 89% by obtaining LA from
PLA waste thanks to the LOOPLA process in comparison to first generation LA from agricultural
production and fermentation process.
