Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is refusing to sign a new deal in order to force a summer move to Real Madrid, reports Mundo Deportivo.
The Bundesliga star has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu with reports last week suggesting that Real Madrid had already agreed a fee of £25m with Borussia Dortmund for the player.Real Madrid see Gundogan as a direct replacement for Xabi Alonso, who is likely to depart the club when his contract expires in the summer.
Arsenal and Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the German international but reports in Spain say Gundogan has his heart set on a move to La Liga.
Manchester United are still keen on signing a creative midfielder after failing to bring Thiago Alcantara, Cesc Fabregas or Anders Herrera to Old Trafford in the summer.
David Moyes was thought to be keen on the player but Arsene Wenger has also been linked with a move to bring Gundogan to the Emirates stadium.
Both the Gunners and the Red Devils were boosted when the player's father denied reports that a fee had been agreed but Mundo Deportivo says Gundogan only has eyes for Los Blancos.
With his contract set to expire in the summer of 2015, Gundogan is ready to hold Borussia Dortmund to ransom, forcing the club to sell him soon or risk losing him for free.
He has reportedly rejected talks with the club's technical director, Michael Zorc and is determined to seal a move to Real Madrid.
Mundo Deportivo also claims that Real tried to sign Gundogan before signing Gareth Bale in the summer
