Malay secondary and higher education
za ba emphasised the importance of secondary and higher education to provide educational opportunity for the Malays who could not pursue English education. He realised that this was the only route to increase their knowledge and expand their horizon. He wanted the school's curriculum to teach Malay language and a foreign language. He stressed the importance of English and Arabic. He argued that English was important for the Malays to acquire contemporary knowledge to defend their dignity while Arabic was important for them to preserve their religion and live according to its precepts. In pursuant to that he also called for them to be given the opportunity for higher education. This he articulated clearly:
