Ms Amporn said she contacted an AIS operator in Suphan Buri and was told that she had to pay the full amount of 203,150.71 baht because the service had already been completed.
"I'm stressed out. I don't know where I can find that much money to pay the bill, and I don't think that I can.
"I'm a farmer and I stay at the farm all day. I don't know much about smartphone technology and I don't even know how to save a contact to my phone," the mother said.
Thakorn Tantasith, secretary-general of the National Broadcasting Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), said all mobile phone operators in Thailand must set a ceiling on service charges to prevent similar incidents in the future.
