In the case of rapeseed and sunflower oils, the main alternatives for the production of first generation biodiesel in Chile [4,44], yields of FAMEs of 84% in 4 min at 350 C and a molar ratio of 42:1 [2] and of 96% in 40 min at 400 C and molar ratio of 40:1 [34] were obtained, respectively. As described later in Section 3.4, thermal decomposition of FAMEs (specifically ricinoleic acid methyl ester) occurred at 325 and 350 C in the present study.
