DESIGN TEAM
If the project is a large one, there will be a number of parties involved. First, the client, who should outline the extent of the project and provide any corporate guidelines that may be applicable. Second, the architect, who should provide the brief on the thinking behind their design, the purpose of each space, and the materials to be used. The architect will be closely shadowed by a construction manager and a quantity surveyor who will supply delivery schedules, budgets, and liaise with other contractors on the designer’s behalf. Additionally, there will be a selection of interested parties including local planning authorities, fire and safety officers, access groups and possibly heritage organization. And don’t forget the user-they will need to be consulted, for instance through focus groups.
