Language in the curriculum comprises Gaeilge and English and is taught
in three different school contexts: schools in which English is the mothertongue
of the children and the principal medium of instruction; schools
where Irish is, typically, the language of the home and the medium of
instruction in school; and scoileanna lán-Ghaeilge, where Irish may or may
not be the language of the home but where it is the medium of instruction
in school.
