@infernovia: Hi, yes. They are a tiny blip, but comparatively evil blip. Most loss of biodiversity is through burning of forests, cargo shipping, pollution and general transportation. Most of these, except forest slashing are non-intentional. Herbicide use is up there with forest slashing.
You might be right that RoundUp will lead or has lead to greater biodiversity of outside ecosystems. However when it comes to different species of corn, I see that Monsanto wants have One Corn to rule the world, so to speak. A loss of biodiversity of our corn cultures could be just as bad. A single bacteria/virus that exploits RoundUp gene or could bring hundreds of species to its knees. Or it can target the common corn ancestor of RoundUp gene, bringing just RounUp corn to its knees.
