Silver triangle nanoplates (silver TNPs, also referred to as silvernanoprisms, silver nanotriangles) have strong SPR absorption thatare tunable throughout the visible and near-infrared (NIR) regionsof the spectrum by controlling nanoplate edge length, thickness, and tip morphology [24–31]. Distinctive from other nanoparticles, silver TNPs contain three special sharp “corners” or “tips” thatcontribute significantly to their optical, electronic and chemicalproperties. Silver TNPs are fine plasmonic probes for establishingstable and sensitive colorimetric methods, considering the specialshapes (sharp “tips”) have special optical and chemical properties, and can be etched by other molecules, metals and ions [32]. Thisetching phenomenon has been successfully studied and employedto control particle size and repair nanoparticles that contain defectsin nanomaterial synthesis [33,34], and also used for analytical pur-pose.
