Choose one of the many ethnolinguistic groups in Southeast Asia and write a 15 page research
paper outlining and discussing the group across time, including early history, migrations and
agricultural practices. Include and discuss events during the colonial period, World War II, and
today. Place particular focus on current events, including village life today and key issues of
socioeconomics, including agriculture, tourism and eco-tourism programs (if any). Issues of
land rights and ownership can be discussed, including access to resources. Recent news articles
and clippings can be included as an appendix. Students are encouraged to discuss
contemporary issues, including the environment and climate change.
