The female participants in the CAWHS PE Sample present an association between a clinical diagnosis of depression and self-reported persistent pain in a body part. Those women experiencing persistent pain were more than twice as likely to have received a clinical depression diagnosis than women who did not report pain (OR ¼ 2.26;
95% CI 1.03 – 4.93).
No statistically significant associations were found between participants of indigenous Mexican origin in the CAWHS as compared with non-indigenous participants for any of the above-described measures of health status.
