This classificatory framework offers four benefits. First, it assists in distinguishing between the four types of research. Second, it provides a broad basis upon which the constructs, MCS and strategy may be compared. Third, through its use, it is possible to avoid comparisons with studies that focus on different aspects of MCS and strategy that is, it is likely to prevent researchers from incorrectly arguing that their results are supported (of rejected) by previous studies. Fourth, the framework can assist researchers to discuss explicitly whether and how the particular study can be related to other research that has been predicated on alternate conceptualizations of strategy and/or MCS
