Award-winning training courses
Lufthansa Cargo trainee programme awarded quality seal
In the Lufthansa Group, the training opportunities are diverse and attractive. One of them has now been given special recognition: "Start Cargo", Lufthansa Cargo AG's trainee programme, yesterday received the renowned quality seal of the job portal Absolventa. It is the first and only seal of its kind and stands for career-promoting fair trainee programmes.
The logistics service-provider's programme has existed since 2008. It is aimed at graduates of degree programmes in business administration and industrial engineering with a focus on logistics. In a period of 18 months the trainees spend time in the areas of Handling, Sales, Yield Management, Network Planning & Sales Management as well as Global Handling Management. A modular programme structure and an assignment abroad provide them with deeper insights into the operational processes at Lufthansa Cargo and through changing projects allow them to take a look at the company from different perspectives. Accompanied by intensive educational and training measures, as well as consultations with Personnel Development, the trainees receive a generalist education. As a result, they will become competent young personnel for the company capable of working in a wide range of areas. Up to now, the Lufthansa Group's freight specialist has taken on all its trainees in full-time jobs.
The trainee seal of Absolventa GmbH has existed since December 2011. The Institute of Personnel Management of the Ludwig-Maximilian University Munich, the SüddeutscheZeitung, as well as ten German companies are among the
initiators. The aim is to increase transparency for interested parties in order to counter the abuse of the traineeship concept as a second-class career. In order to obtain the seal of approval, the company must undergo a rigorous examination process. Lufthansa Cargo passed at its first attempt. For example, it is evaluated whether trainees go through several divisions, complete learning activities and also have the opportunity to build up a network within the organization. Right from the start they should assume responsible tasks and in doing so be supported by experienced executives.
