This study revealed that plant-endophyte partnership can be
exploited to enhance constructed wetland efficiency to
remediate textile effluent. Endophytic bacteria showed potential
to enhance plant growth, textile effluent degradation
and genotoxicity reduction. Moreover, these endophytic bacteria
enhanced the population of textile effluent-degrading
bacteria in the rhizosphere, root and shoot of plants. However,
further studies are needed to explore the metabolic activities
(gene expression) of endophytic bacteria in the
rhizosphere and endosphere of wetland plants.
