a) Stratified analysis by care-providers
Women supported by a member of the hospital staff were less likely to have analgesia than
women receiving standard care (RR 0.97 [95% CI 0.95 to 0.99]). This difference was also apparent
if the support was provided by birth attendants other than professionally trained staff (RR 0.83
[95% CI 0.77 to 0.89]).
