Follow the support presentation, and present basic measures for safe chemical handling.
Encourage discussion with participants on importance given in their companies to:
• Never eating, drinking, or smoking while using hazardous chemicals
• Always using the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Labelling and identification of hazardous chemicals
• Avoiding smelling or tasting a chemical as a means to identify it
• Storage of hazardous chemicals
• Availability of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and chemical risk information at work
• Keeping containers closed when not in use
• Keeping flammable chemicals away from ignition sources
• Avoiding contact between incompatible materials
• Not using improvised containers when transferring hazardous chemicals
• Cleaning up spills and disposing of waste properly.
