Let’s check our answer.
We have found Belle’s age to be 9 years old.
Since Mr Lim is 5 times as old as Belle,
Mr Lim’s age is
9 times 5
which is equal to 45 years.
Adam is 35 years younger than Mr Lim.
Thus, Adam’s age is
45 minus 35
which is equal to 10 years.
Mr Lim’s age over Adam’s age is therefore
45 over 10.
This can be simplified to 9 over 2
which is 4 and a half when expressed as a mixed number.
This is the same as that given in the problem.
Hence, our answer is correct.
In this lesson, we have tried solving a few word problems.
What have we learned from solving these problems?
Let’s quickly recap.
