Thai Immigration Office now requires Verification Letter issued by Home Country Embassies/Consulates to process Thai Visa transfer for foreign nationals who change passport
With immediate effect, all foreign nationals and family members who have obtained Thai Visa (either Non-Immigration Visa or Tourist Visa) must request for a Verification Letter from their Home Country Embassies / Consulates when they change new passports. This verification letter is required by Thai Immigration Office during the process of Thai Visa transfer from old to new passports.
The verification letter should indicate old passport number, new passport number and reasons for changing passport.
Please note that the above new requirement was verbally announced by Thai Immigration Officer and there is no written law / regulation provided for this matter.
