Abstract—The main purpose of this paper is replacement of
an existing DC motor by an optimized Switched Reluctance
Motor (SRM) for an automotive application, especially for a first
Slovak electric car. The SRM was optimized on the base a new
optimization procedure, where input parameters were based on
requirements for this vehicle e.g. maximum torque, acceleration
and power at different speeds. The optimized motor was constructed
and the static nonlinear and dynamic performances and
parameters were measured and compared with the calculated
ones.
