On April 2, KBS released a photo collage which depicted CNBLUE’s Lee Jong Hyun as Han Shi Hoo in the upcoming series, “Orange Marmalade.” His ethereal visage lends its to his portrayal of a vampire. In “Orange Marmalade,” he will embrace the somber and conflicted characterization of a stealthy vampire. He is an appropriate actor for this particular role, evoking a Korean take on the flawed but lovable spirit of vampires like Edward Cullen.

“Orange Marmalade” will serve as the follow-up to his role as Collin, an illegitimate son from America, in “A Gentleman’s Dignity.” He will shed the angst of Collin to embrace a totally different side of teenaged conflict.
Based on a popular webcomic, “Orange Marmalade” is set within a fictitious world where vampires and humans are bound by a frail 200-year-old peace treaty. Yeo Jin Goo leads the cast as Jae Min, a human high-school student, who unwittingly falls in love with a young female vampire. AOA’s Seol Hyun portrays Baek Ma Ri, a transfer student who hides her true identity.
“Orange Marmalade” will provide a different take on the vampire mythos, which is currently is the subject matter for the Monday-Tuesday KBS show “Blood.”
While “Orange Marmalade” is set within the vibrant halls of high-school, “Blood” provides a darker perspective on vampirism. The show has ventured into thought-provoking territory as it explores the parasitic nature of the pharmaceutical industry and the unscrupulous nature of off-brand drug testing.
Ahn Jae Hyun has evolved into a stronger actor as the series progresses, while providing a compassionate yet sexy take on Park Ji Sang. As the story unwinds, his relationship with Yoo Ri Ta (Gu Hye Sun) has developed into a more realistic dynamic.
“Blood” continues to air on KBS on Mondays and Tuesdays in the 9:55 p.m. time slot. “Orange Marmalade” will air on KBS2 in the 9:30 p.m. time slot that was previously occupied by Kim Jaejoong’s “Spy.”
