In this study, all subjects in the experimental group reported on positive
physical and emotional changes after aroma oil massage for 4 weeks. Most of them
claimed to feel relax. Muscle pain was diminished or gone. Tiredness decreased.
Better mood and sleep, reduced stress, and clear thinking were reported. Some
subjects gained the greatest change to their vitality. For instance, a subject
complained weakness, severe headache and had sleep disturbances. After aroma oil
massage 1 time, she reduced headache and slept better. After aroma oil massage 4
times, she looked fresh and improved participation with her friends. She never
complained about weakness or headache again. From researcher observation, the
older adults in both group improved social participation and meeting with the others.
Thus, A course of aroma oil massage can be seen as a bio-psycho-social intervention
with, potentially, greater benefits.
