Other authors have studied the effects of EC combined with other treatments in tannery effluents. Feng et al. (2007)tested the mechanisms of removal of COD, ammonia, total organic carbon, sulfide, and color with two soluble electrodes (mild steel and Al). The tannery wastewater was first treated using mild steel electrodes followed by filtration and finally by the aluminum electrodes and the elimination rates of COD, ammonia, total organic carbon, sulfide, and color were determined to be 68.0%, 43.1%, 55.1%, 96.7%, and 84.3%,respectively.
