A total of 70% of occupants involved in a tow-away level
longitudinal barrier impact between 1997 and 2007 had an airbag
available (30% did not have an airbag available). For those occupants
where an airbag was present, the airbag deployed 67% of the time.
This percentage is nearly identical when only drivers are considered
(68%). For all occupants, lap and shoulder belt usage rates were 79%.
For the airbag restrained and non-airbag restrained data subsets, the
lap and shoulder belt use rates were 86% and 62%, respectively (data
not shown).
