(2) Retention—The impact of adherence on retention was evaluated using adherence ratings for Sessions 2–7, with retention defined as a family attending at least eight sessions. Results indicated that higher levels of all four technique domains—therapist joining, tracking and enactment, reframing, and restructuring—predicted significantly higher rates of
retention. A 1-SD increase in reframing predicted a 19% increase in the likelihood of retention; a 1-SD increase in joining predicted a 22% increase in the likelihood of retention; a 1-SD increase in restructuring predicted a 59% increase in the likelihood of retention; and a 1-SD increase in tracking and eliciting enactment predicted a 62% increase in the
likelihood of retention.
