bound at a given pH is determined by metal-binding
functional groups affinity constants. The value of this
constant depends on metal ion, its valence and the value
of pKa of the functional group.
The experimental results on the influence of pH on
biosorption performance are shown in Fig. 4. Depending
on pH, different functional groups participate in
metal ions binding:
