In this chapter, 73 English signboards were analyzed according to the function
that each signboard aims to achieve, the context revolving around them and where
they were collected (see Appendix). The results of the studies are divided into two
major parts as follows:
1. The analysis of factors influencing the ineffectiveness of English
translation on signboards.
2. The explanation of opinions of Thai people and foreigners towards
the use of English on signboards.
