HVAC systems clean indoor air yet contribute simultaneously to the problem of climate change via their powerful fans that consume huge quantities of energy. Globally, buildings consume 40 % of total energy and account for a similar percentage of greenhouse gas emissions.
Ahlstrom's Flow2Save technology (see Figure 1) was developed to provide high indoor air quality at lower energy cost and better ecological footprint. Traditional filter media, like microglass, requires HVAC systems to work hard to pump enough air through the system. While keeping efficiency levels the same, Flow2Save enables a lower airflow requirement. The technology has lower pressure drop, which makes it easier to push air through and consequently less energy is consumed.
