Tulips do best in well-drained soil. They like to be planted where there can get at least four hours of sunlight per day. Tulip bulbs should be planted before the first hard frost. Don’t plant them early. Plant them 7 to 9 inches deep and 4 to 6 inches apart, depending on the type planted. They look best when grown in groups. Plant the tulip bulbs in clusters of 5 to 15 bulbs of one variety. Water them well. Next spring you wll have beautiful tulip flowers. Don’t water tulip bulb garden in the summer. Damn soil will rot out your tulips. Always fertilize the soil in the early spring or fall season. The best way to feed them is to add a tablespoon of a granular fertilizer on the soil around each tulip bulb.
