- Be content with what we have
This poem teaches that we should be satisfied with the things or properties that we have, as much or as little. If we have a little, we should use carefully , or provided that we have less and want to have more, we should save it continually. If we are satisfied with what we have, we will not be greedy and also make us have a happiness, too. In case of the shepherd, he is not satisfied with a little treasure and his sheep, so he is not happy and worried about his life.
- Thinking carefully before doing anything
Everyone has their own goal and would like to accomplish it. It is good because it will make us try and develop ourselves to succeed. But we should think and do prudently and carefully for make the minimum errors and don't regret it later. Unlike the shepherd in the poem, he sells everything he has, just because he want more money but he didn't think to plan carefully before. So this makes him lose everything.
