DISCUSSION
It is evident from the results just presented that the 5S antibody preparations,
from pepsin-digested 7S rabbit and sheep antibody, retained a small but
definite ability to fix guinea pig complement. This is contrary to the conclusions
of others (3, 9, 10). However, Amirian and Leikhim (11) found that pepsindigested
rabbit antibody to sheep erythrocytes still retained some complementfixing
ability, while a pepsin-digested rabbit antibody to pertussis did not.
