When hunger strikes I like to satisfy it quickly and when on the streets of Guilin (in Guangxi) few things are as quick as a bowl of mi fen.
The town is littered with near holes-in-the-wall complete with noodles, boiling water, stock and a few choice condiments. Upon ordering round rice noodles are given 30 seconds cooking then topped with a few slices of pork and, if you're lucky, some crackling - peanuts may make an appearance too.
