36.17 Fire Protection system for switchyard area to meet the requirement as
specified in IEEE Guide for Substation Fire Protection : IEEE Std 979-1994
(R2004) and all requirements of NFP A.
36.18 Fire protection system for Transformer: The Foam-Water Spray System
shall comply with the following standards, manual and all associated
constructions, equipment and components ;
- Foam-water spray system: NFPA 13, NFPA 16 & NFPA 850
- Bladder tank vessel construction standard : Carbon steel to ASME code
section VIII for unfired pressure vessel
- Nozzles: NFPA 16 and as per manufacturer's recommendation.
- Detection system: Air Expansion Linear Heat Detection System (LHB)
- Equipment for system: FM approved, UL Listed and VdS.

Water spray system provided for Transformer-rectifier sets should be
designed for a density of 10.2 mm/min over the exposed surface at the
transformer-rectifier sets.
There shall be trouble and operation visual and audible signals
(Environmental Monitoring) from 250 cu.m water storage tank, fire
pump, and jockey pump that indicate a change of state of any connected
initiating devices shown and recorded at control room. The installation
practice shall be in accordance with the latest edition of NFP A 72.
36.19 Three minutes 3D animation presentation file (MP4 , resolution not less than
1440 p;2500 x 1440) demonstrating details of switchyard and interior and
exterior buildings shall be arranged.
3 7. Construction of
- Steel structure foundation.
- Equipment structure foundation with sub trench (if required).
- Dead man hook for loading transformer
- Underground water tank 50 cu.m.
- Water tank tower 15 cu.m.
- Water storage tank for fire protection system (capacity not less than 250 cu.m)
