Perhaps the single most important question you can ask your interviewees is this one:
If you could see 10 years into the future, what two or three things would you look for that would help you understand how the future has turned out?
This is a quick and dirty way to find out what your interviewees think are the critically important changes ahead-watershed developments that your organization will have to confront and master in order to be successful in the future. You will get some insightful, maybe even eye opening, replies to the preceding question. For example.
I’d look at people’s cell phones-how they are used compared to today, what kinds of apps are on them, how they’ve evolved, how people use them most.
