In 2011 it was also named the airport with best architectural design in the world by National Geographic Traveller magazine; “piece of a perfect airport”; and fifth best airport in the world by Condé Nast Traveller magazine. In 2012, it was given Gold Fast Travel Award (IATA) for the "measures adopted to facilitate and speed up airport formalities for passengers and increased efficiency by reducing check-in and boarding costs".
In 2014, the airport was given the Tourism Industry Tribute Award by Madrid City Council and Best International Airport at the CAPA Awards for the over 25 million passenger category.
