Computer graphics is the useful tool for simulating the vibrations of rectangular
and square membranes. The study of these vibrations will be useful in the design of
diaphragms for loudspeakers and microphones. This relieves the burden of calculat-
ing and plotting the different modes of vibrations. The same technique can be ex-
tended to plot the motion of a membrane that has been acted upon by a constant
force at the centre. The initial shape and the shapes for successive cycles can be sim-
ulated.
