Most of the methods discussed above are either selectingthe maximum sensitivity, or carrying out several simula-tion studies and contrasting the control performances tocalculate the adjusting parameters. It’s required to designmore controllers with more tuning parameters by their meth-ods. Their guidelines calculated the adjusting parametersindirectly, therefore it would increase complexity of the cal-culation. Though Jeng’s method calculated the parameters ofPID controller directly, it needs to collect required plant datafirst. Therefore, it’s desirable to get an easy method of tuningcontrol structure for the operator. In the present work, a verysimple and uniform controller design method based on polezero conversion is proposed for a class of stable and unsta-ble processes with time delay. The adjusting parameter wasdirectly calculated by the time constant and time delay of theprocesses, and the IMC filter with a unified structure can usedfor all the stable and unstable processes with time delay. Thecoefficient get from this method is easy to calculate and havea unified structure in form. And set point weighting is alsoapplied in the system to reduce overshoot.
