for many years. The studies made in our work indicated that
all metal elements were not applicable to be determined with
the optical temperature control method. The analyte sensibility
was decreased distinctly when Zn was determined with optical
temperature control. In this paper, the graphite furnace atomic
absorption spectrometry method with optical temperature control
and Zeeman background correction for determination of
cadmium in paint samples was established. When Cd is measured,
sensitivity of optical temperature control has to be marked
up by at least 60% than that of traditional current control. In addition,
it can lower the atomization temperature from 1800 ◦C to
1400 ◦C. And using optical temperature control can shorten the
atomization time from 10 s to 6 s and prolong the life of common
graphite tube cuvette. It also can widen the detection range. This
method has high sensitivity, precision, accuracy, reliability and
practicability.
