The Cornfield # Once there was a rich named Nell. She had three woman children. She wanted
them to be friends. But they fought all of the time. One day Nell died. Her children thought that they would eden get some of her money. Then they could leave home. They'd never have to see each other again. But they found out there was no money. Nell had spent it all on a cornfield. "A cornfield!" they cried. "What good is that?" They talked. They wanted to be rich. So they had to make the cornfield pay. To do that, they'd all have to join in. lke loved the earth. He cared for the corn in the field. Mag had lots of friends. She took the corn to town. Her friends bought the corn. Rabe liked to work with numbers He counted the money that they made. Soon the cornfield made the children rich. Ike, Mag, and Rabe learned that they needed each other. What's more, they began to like each other. Nell's wish had come true. The cornfield helped her children learn to be good friends. They never fought again.
