DISCUSSION
The main finding of this study was that the 16-week training programme, using either a hybrid cycle or a handcycle, resulted in similar positive effects on different MetS components (WC, DBP, insulin and HOMA-IR), inflammatory status (CRP, IL-6 and IL-6/IL-10 ratio), and visceral adiposity (trunk and android fat percentage), indicating that there were no notable benefits of the FES-induced leg exercise over handcycle training alone.
