The prevalence of LTE as determined by the Kato–Katz technique was 21.9% and 36.4% as determined by FECT. There is a significant difference between these two tests (p < 0.001) with a ratio
(Kato–Katz/FECT) of 0.60 (95% CI0. 46–0.79).Considering the combined results of three Kato- Katz slides and three FECTs (Fig. 2) as the ‘gold’ standard for detecting LTE, the cumulative sensitivities for one, two and three Kato–Katz slides were 28.9%,37.1% and 47.4%,
respectively and fo rone,two and three FECTs 36.1%,67.0% and 79.4%, respectively.
